As the body’s electrical telecommunicator, the nervous system passes information through our bodies at lightning speed. Processing information through our senses lets us adapt to ever-changing conditions in our environment. Our nervous system has two primary functions: to activate electrical energy through the sympathetic system and to pacify or switch off excess energy through the parasympathetic system. When we are restless, nervous, and irritable, these are obvious signs that our nervous system is under stress.
