The New Year 2024 Essence: Transforming Negativity

In 2024, Transforming Negativity gently draws us into a deep interiority, where our connection with the River of Life serves as a counter-balance to the many dramas in our over-heated world. While we cannot single-handedly fix the world’s woes, perhaps the oyster’s ability to transform grit or parasites into beautiful pearls can offer timely inspiration.

The pearl-making process begins by attending the specific ‘grating elements’ closest to home—right under our skin. It takes courage and loving resourcefulness to face, and eventually embrace, the raw pain lodged deep within our psyches.

Rooted in the Great River, we find ways to nourish these tender, exposed parts of ourselves by listening carefully for exactly what is needed, then kindly providing it, moment by moment. Oysters do this by drawing forth nacre, a biochemical substance from their bodies to cloak the foreign object, layer after layer until a luminescent pearl emerges. Within the peaceful darkness of our inner sanctuary, our body-souls can also remember their elegantly simple, and utterly ingenious ways to transform negativity.

Breathing in—Wisdom gently rises, attracting and filtering for the truly life-affirming elements. Breathing out—we consciously release any weary habits associated with power-over dynamics, within ourselves and towards others. Finally, resting in quiet stillness, we let the ‘pearl of great price’—our Love and Wisdom—generously flow through us into the world.
